Impact and Mechanisms of COVID on Neurological Function and Health Outcomes

About the Study

This study, funded by the State of Arizona Governor’s Office through the American Rescue Plan Act, aims to analyze if long COVID:

  • Serves as a risk factor for developing its own cognitive disorder, known as COVID Cognitive Impairment (CCI)
  • Increases the risk in developing Alzheimer’s disease in patients

Eligibility

Patients are eligible to participate in the study if they are:

  • English speaking
  • 55-90 years old
  • Able to attend all study visits at the research site
  • Documented to have COVID-19 confirmed by PCR or rapid test AND continuing to experience enduring central nervous system (CNS) symptoms (brain fog, difficulties in remembering things, and staying focused)
  • OR
  • Diagnosed with mild Alzheimer’s disease, based on the most recent NIA-AA criteria
  • Able to attend all study visits at the research site
