New-Onset Refractory Status Epilepticus (NORSE)
Purpose
This study is a multicenter, biologic samples, and health-related data collection.
The purpose of this study is to establish a collection of health-related data and biological samples that will enable researchers to understand the cause of cryptogenic new-onset refractory status epilepticus (NORSE), to identify the key determinants of outcome and to determine the best management strategy.
Who can participate
Adults 18 years and older with refractory, unexplained status epilepticus undergoing acute treatment with antiseizure medications and sedation can participate in the study.
Visits
This study requires 15 in-person visits and telephone follow up visits over 60 months.
