Dean Stein, MD
Endovascular Neurosurgery
Dean Stein, MD, is a neuroanesthesiologist at Barrow Neurological Institute. He is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
Dr. Stein’s expertise includes anesthesia care for patients undergoing neuroendovascular procedures. He oversees neuroendovascular anesthesiology at Barrow, bringing more than two decades of experience in leading anesthesia teams at a previous institution. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Society of Anesthesiologists, and the Arizona Medical Association.
Dr. Stein earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago. He completed his anesthesiology residency at the Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center, also located in Chicago.
An associate professor of anesthesiology at both the University of Arizona and the Mayo Clinic, Dr. Stein is passionate about educating the next generation of anesthesiologists. He has a wealth of experience in teaching and supervising both medical students and anesthesiology residents. He is the recipient of the Mayo Clinic Department of Anesthesiology Teacher of the Year Award. Additionally, Dr. Stein brings experience serving on key committees at a large hospital, including the pharmacy and therapeutics committee and the credentialing committee.
