Gamma Knife Radiosurgery Overview
Gamma Knife is a radiosurgery treatment used to destroy abnormal tissue without the need for an incision and open surgery. Radiation beams are focused on a precise area of tissue and are only lethal to cells within the immediate vicinity.
Gamma Knife can only be used to treat lesions in the head. It involves attaching a metal frame to the skull to accurately target beams of radiation. Treatment can last anywhere from 15 minutes to four hours, but it is not painful. Anesthesia is used while the frame is being attached.

Am I a good candidate for Gamma Knife Treatment?
You may be a good candidate for Gamma Knife radiosurgery if you are unable to undergo conventional neurosurgery or need additional treatment in conjunction with chemotherapy or brain surgery.
